Found this 1984 Memorial yesterday afternoon and was wondering if this is a mint error, or man made damage. One ugly coin for sure], but very odd marks, Next to Liberty, its dipped, with 3 horizontal ridges, on Licoln's arm/shoulder its dipped, and where I indicated with red, there is an edge like a rim, and finally the date area is also dipped. The Rev, also has a gouged out areas on the top like another coin rim may have done it..Opinions?

Damage for sure--this one is a spender.

to the Forum, I can see why you would ask, these type damages do look interesting at first but as mentioned they are not mint damage, look at the area directly behind the obverse damage on the reverse, it shows damage as well, coins get jammed/lodged/squeezed in between some type of mechanical element/vice.door/vending machine or get run over in parking lots....numerous unknown possibilities
the impression on yours looks like the coin was hammered on.
