Correct weight is right on the coin, 420 grains. Even if the weight is correct though, this one is clearly a fake.

Quote: Poor counterfeit of an extremely rare pattern coin. Would that be J-1220? Of note: Trade dollars were not produced for circulation/export until 1873. That's why this date could only possibly occur (barring fakes) on a pattern coin. Pattern coins are always quite rare by nature and anything appearing to be one must come under the highest scrutiny. Quote: Correct weight is right on the coin, 420 grains. Even if the weight is correct though, this one is clearly a fake. Since none of my scales do grains, that is approximately 27.2 grams. In the end, it is quite a poor fake. You'll be lucky if it is actually silver, sorry.

It doesn't matter if it's silver and has the right weight - the mushy details tell the story.
