Good morning....I bought these Half dollars at a yard sale a few years back and just ran across them again stuffed in a drawer. I remember having to only pay face value for them which seemed odd, but am wondering if they are anything special. Appreciate all the help!

to CCF! That was a nice find on your part. Proof halves at face value can't be beat.

If you're feeling lucky - check the rims (sides?) - if completely silver colored than you have 90% silvers. If copper colored than just clad but still nice to have proofs of any kind.

Like Mark1959 mentioned, if indeed 90% silver then you really have something.
Otherwise, they are impaired clad proofs with no extra value.

As to value, you probably could sell them for a few dollars each on ebay.

For a few dollars all you would be doing is making money for the USPS, ebay, & PayPal.

As others have said, carefully remove from holders and check the edge to see if it is silver or not. If silver, then melt is around $5 each. If not silver, then little to no value over face.
