continuing last night's story... i had $3.43 in my pocket and all cats found & fed by 12:30. I was now on the back half of the route and pedaling toward home. I was content with my finds and decided to head for home, maybe cut the route short. there was nighttime construction happening at a key point on the boulevard and I couldn't cross it where I wanted to, so I rolled into the winn-dixie plaza's huge parking lot around 12:45am to observe the construction from a short distance & ponder my course of action. as I usually do when entering that parking lot, I head toward the center of it so that I can observe the entire parking lot before proceeding. I coasted into a darkened area and slowed my forward speed as I was about to hop off the bike when I spotted this on the pavement: wow... a nice, flat fold of FRNs. crazy how I just rolled right up to it. I quickly snatched it, stuffed it into my pocket, hopped back on the bike and zipped out of there, dodged the construction by simply taking the 'back way' out of the plaza and rode home. i didn't bother with a picture in the parking lot. it was time to just grab and go. once at home, I counted what was there and nabbed a pic. $50 x3 $20 x4 $5 x3 $1 x10 $255 this is not a key wester's wad. a tourist lost this. it's not a pouch of benjamins, but it'll do. this is exactly why I cruise the parking lots every night. sooner or later I am bound to score big. this one topped the two benjamins I picked some time ago. so... the running total just got a major cash infusion, going from $431 to $686. I will probably top the $700-mark soon. getting some gold this cycle just got a lot easier. kitty karma? money fairies? pocket goblins? just plain luck?

Well that was a bit wad of bills, a bit of a nice find, makes me wonder if the location where you found these if the business were still open.

Note: you should immediately grab a Mexico 2 Peso or 2.5 Peso gold coin or 1/20 ouncer - they won't be cheaper by Black Friday.

Quote: this is not a key wester's wad. a tourist lost this. Yeah, and I am not sure if there was anything you could have done that late to find the owner who lost it. This is why I do not carry cash on vacation.

Quote: makes me wonder if the location where you found these if the business were still open. everything in the plaza was closed (12:45am) except for denny's, and the location of the find was well away from denny's. everything from that spot is about the same distance away, being in the middle of the lot. Quote: immediately grab a Mexico 2 Peso or 2.5 Peso gold coin or 1/20 ouncer - they won't be cheaper by Black Friday. yeah... I have those in one shopping cart. I think you're right, it's been on my mind for months... my problem is that I'm set on a trajectory that I can't wiggle out of. I could if I make another find like that, but not as things stand at the moment. after this cycle I'm going to be setting my sights on silver because gold is becoming too difficult to acquire. this makes me think of mike maloney from years ago saying the metals will become 'unaffordium and unobtainium'. Quote: anything you could have done that late to find the owner who lost it right. finder's keepers. rest assured, I'm going to turn that paper into valuables while it still has some purchasing power. by the way... I noticed the other day that my toilet paper-- I buy a popular brand in a blue pkg. labeled as 'mega'-- is getting smaller. I noticed it in the store and thought maybe I was imagining it. nope... I compared the new pkg. & rolls to the rolls still in my bathroom. the rolls have gone from having 224 2-ply sheets per roll to 208 sheets... the size of the squares stayed the same, but now instead of a total of 146 sq. ft. they're 135 sq. ft., and cost the same. shrinkflation.

I did not notice it on the last purchase, but it did not feel smaller to me. I am about half way through it so I will try to remember to look at it next time.

Gotta ask... Are there security cameras covering the location where you found this wad? If so, I wonder what they show?

There are cameras everywhere now. We sell those systems and we have access to them for support. I have seen... things.

Quote: Are there security cameras covering the location where you found this wad? there are likely at least a few cameras, probably at store fronts, but not covering the entire parking lot. I really don't know for sure. tourists are beginning to flock to key west for fantasy fest. next week there will be lost money all over. i'll be distancing myself from all of that downtown slop. i'll stick to my parking lots away from all the crazies.

I noticed that years ago that all packaging is getting smaller while the price stays the same. it is a trick to make folks think that things are all hunky dory. Even top Ramen packages have shrunk down.
