Hey, I picked these up on ebay years ago before I knew as much because they were as cheap as the dickens. Now however I looked at them again and am wondering if they are genuine. The 55 in particular seems suspiciously low relief and might have the bad skew on Liberty you see everywhere too. A dealer friend of mine said it was genuine but I have no idea how much he knows about Chinese fakes. For the 22 I'm suspicious of the Rim Fin at the tip of the reverse but that could mean nothing too. The obverse seems to lack enough strike detail to be genuine and from what I can tell IGWT is properly distorted. Have a look and see.

Not sure but I think the 55 is real. To bad about the hole.

I feel the 55 is questionable but maybe possible. I don't think the other is a 22 plain and I'm not even convinced it is a 22.

Unfortunately I believe both are counterfeits.
On the 1955 the left letters in IGWT are thinner than the on on the right. On a genuine coin the right hand side version of a letter will be the thinner one. Easiest seen in the "I" of IN.
The 1922 the first sign would be the severe pitting. This is a sign of likely casting. Since we can't see the devices on the obverse on a genuine strong reverse the 19 of the date are not as sharp due to Die Deterioration as can be seen on the OP's coin.
Just my unprofessional opinion.

The wear pattern on the 1955 is abnormal, the portrait resembles a smashed version of a known Chinese fake. Appears to be an attempt at deception by introducing "fake wear". Other coin appears to be little more than a slug at this point. The obverse design pattern is completely inconsistent with issue. Probably an altered 1932.

Thad - it is definitely not a 1932, maybe my pics just suck. The first 2 got hit hard by the corrosion. An alteration wouldn't be that indistinct, if it's fake it's just plain fake, which is not unlikely.
Ed - the pitting is actual severe corrosion, not casting artifacts. Coin looks acid splashed.
As for the 55, it doesn't remind me so much of the classic "plastic penny" fakes, but nonetheless I don't like the profile relief at all. I agree with the possibility of fake wear/damage on both. At least I didn't pay anything close to full price for them.
