I have been buying rolls and bags of cull Indian Head cents and came across this 1909 cent. I noticed it has very heavy damage and it's very thin. But I noticed it has a mark on the reverse which very well could be a faint "S". So I need some expert opinions. It appears to be just in the right spot to be a mint mark, but I don't know. It's so worn and damaged that I can not tell. The last images are it side by side with a normal thickness IHC. Edited by Modern Coin Collector 12/24/2018 02:53 am

Not sure but I think it is too far left.

I think at this point it is purely acedemical. I cannot imagine anyone paying any premium for that coin.

Damaged beyond recognition, no value.

For ALL intents and purposes, no. Based on personal experiences, even a bank won't take this.

Lol yall don't want that IHC send it to me. I'll gladly give that poor IHC a good home lol jk. If it's a real 09-S it's a poor mans version. I think that has been in a house fire as that blackened look I've noticed on coins I have dug at a house site that has been burned down.
