I've been wondering if storing circ. Morgans, I guess they have a small premium beyond melt value, but they are loose inside a red cardboard coin box.

Should they be put inside a 2.5 x 2.5 flip or store like this ok? If they tarnish, when silver goes up more per oz., probably will be sold for the bullion anyway?

I wouldn't worry about storing them loose or in a roll if they're less than XF or so. They're circulated so ought to have a patina anyway.

All undamaged Morgans carry a premium to melt value. In general pre-1921 Morgans carry a larger premium than 1921 pieces.

Assuming you are talking about generic widgets, we would need to see a picture of what you have to provide a good answer. I have stored bulk Morgans in large bags in the past with no worries. They were coins with heavy wear, cleaning, beat-up, etc. If you have Morgans that are VF/better without problems then I would definitely get them in 2x2s (or rolls as llewellin noted).

Not Morgans, but I have had loose circulated coins that I collected as a kid - copper, silver, nickel - in the same cardboard box for over 45 years and I don't see anything different about them. I live in a very dry environment though, and don't take it as sound advice. If you're not tossing the box around I don't think it matters that much.

I prefer rolls. It is neater and makes it easier to count. If you get a lot the rolls can be put into boxes too! You can use plain paper (not the bleached kind), or put an inner layer of mylar in the paper rolls to minimize (but not eliminate) contact with air.

I prefer stacking them in coin tubes. It keeps them stationary, but easy to access if you feel like looking for VAMS or just handling them. I've had them stored that way for a decade, and I see no difference. Like others have said, they are already circulated anyway.

I too say if stored in tubes, OK.
