*** Edited by Staff to Add Year / Mintmark / Denomination to Title. Titles are Important! ***

The nickle is considerably thicker than a similar year. It measures .084. it is also not as wide as a similar year. It measures.817 vs .834 wide for another nickel. The edge has a ridge all the way around. This ridge can be seen in the cross section photo.

The features on the head and coat seem to be abruptly ended vs smoothly worn as a worn coin would show. The rear of the coin presents the same.

Is this a weak die? Is this coin more valuable the the standard 5 cents?

to the community!

It appears to be a Magicians coin, good news that nickel is a wartime nickel so it's 35% silver by composition. It's worth is about a dollar as most collectors wouldn't go about bullion value.

Welcome! I think it is Dryer Coin or a spooned coin. Not an error, but PMD (post-mint damage).

@Zwages, first welcome to CCF. Second, your nickel is well-worn and the rim has been damaged in some way. None of these issues are mint-related and only detract from the value of the coin. However, as others have mentioned, it is a war-time issue and brings a small premium over face. This is worth saving in a 2x2.
