I've been spending a lot of time on ebay recently trying to research prices for various coins and trying to determine sales strategies of individual coins, lots, BIN, auction, etc. I was researching my 10% silver mexican peso's (bullion value ~ $0.75) and came across this sales tactic that is/was making quite the profit. I'd be interested in hearing peoples opinions on these listings.

If you're referring to the extra keywords in the title ("roughly size of half dollar", "world silver coin 15.9g"), I generally don't like them because listings like that often appear in unrelated searches. But that extra exposure is what the seller is after. That may help drive the price higher because of the additional potential buyers seeing the listing.

I do appreciate knowing the weight and size, but I prefer that information being in the description, not the title. The same information is in the description, but we all know that a lot of buyers don't bother reading the entire listing so maybe it helps drive sales being in the title as well.

In either place, it saves me the research time at Numista, but as a selling practice, it's a turn-off for me.

I assume you're talking about focusing on the size and weight and saying it's a silver coin, without indicating the low silver content. Nothing really inaccurate, and the condition of those coins may justify the prices. But certainly not for bullion value.

It's a bit misleading, but when I did a sold items search, you see that almost every seller is calling these silver, without qualifying the fineness.

Caveat emptor applies to life in general and ebay in particular. ANyone buying bullion should know their types and fineness, or they deserve what they get.

I have always thought these coins are very attractive in high grade, and that seller is presenting them very well.

(For the record, I sold one of these in UNC for $4.99 plus $1 shipping a few years ago. Looks like that's close to the market average and this seller is commanding a couple of dollars more).
