@AW, ok well welcome to CCF. I'll ask the mods to move your thread over to the right spot, but in the meanwhile, can you please post pics of the full front and back of the coin? Also, it would be super-cool if you could rotate the images so that they are right-side up. Thx!

Ok thanks for the new pics. They definitely help. The one of the whole obv is still a bit blurry so I can't tell if this rough area is raised or incuse compared to the rest of the field. Do they look more like bumps or pits with the coin in hand?

Hi Spence. Thanks for replying . The best way to describe it would be like a stucco texture. Some raised , some not . Also , it doesn't appear to be in the lettering just the planchet. I'm sorry about the pics . I'm still trying to get them to size .

Possibly there was a bit of grease on the field with some grit in the mix. During the strike the surface was distorted. No premium. Just always nice to know what causes it.

Hi Giwalsh and Coop . Thank you for letting me know . I've looked for info for a couple days now , guess I should have joined sooner and saved some trouble ! Do you think I should hang on to it ?

Not really no premium for this. On the ATB Quarters, the OBV doubled dies are mostly just on the ear lobe area. http://www.doubleddie.com/719755.htmlHere is a listing for the DDO and DDR ATB Quarters section. That way you can identify the locations of the doubled dies before you start searching. They are usually on the center of the designs on both sides. On the ATB outer ring devices, the devices are incuse and so you see a lot of MD on that area on these. (about 70% mild or stronger) But no premium for these as they are common and caused by the machine, and not a doubled die.
