After perusing some small local sellers I found a 1876-CC Type 2 Reverse Dime for sale. The seller was asking for $50, is this a steal or a fair price? I'm not a huge seated collector, but for the right price I'd be interested. It appears to be a VF-30ish grade with some ED it has a green colored surface with some minor staining and possible obverse corrosion (pictured below). Let me know what ya'll think, thanks! The entire obverse is the same colour as the reverse. The Reverse is Below:

50 us I am assuming? Ideally if you have a photo of the obverse that would help. From the wear on reverse looks F12-F15?
I would feel comfortable paying 25-30 us maybe?

Correct 50 USD. I'd assume it's more then that as its an R6 coin. The 25 USD would be for a normal piece.

There are so many nicer examples out there, why settle on this one?

Im not really stuck just misinformed. I was told the Type 2 Reverse was a extremely rare coin in all grades. Is that incorrect?

I thought so, this is that type 2 reverse on a 1876CC. I put a closeup of the wreath to show that. So, knowing its rare, is 50$ a good deal?

Sorry I meant to say 8.27 were minted in total from all mints. CC only minted about 26%. It's a scarce variety I would love to see observe photo. It's def up there with that price for a VF

Here's the page with the relevant diagnostics to confirm it is a Type 2 reverse http://www.seateddimevarieties.com/..._101page.htmI do not know if $50 is a steal or fair price for this variety--as I have not kept up on the market for dime varieties. -MV

Type 2 is definitely very scarce. Just go through the list and make sure it's 100% type 2. I'll allow someone else who's more experienced with the market on dimes. I am a fan of all coins produced at CC.

GrapeCollects, I don't claim any expertise on Seated dimes, but comparing your mm location to the diagnostic photo posted by MeadowviewCollector, it looks like your mm could be further east than the diagnostic. That could just be a function of wear and camera angle, but it's worth a second look just to be sure. It does look like your coin has a die crack through the mm, though.

I do not believe that this is a type 2 reverse 1876 CC. There is only one known die marriage for this variety with the date being farther right than yours. The mm is smaller than yours and the second "c" of your coin looks to be almost touching the right ribbon, this die marriage there is more space between them. Do you see any die cracks? Can you provide a better close up of the left ribbon end?.
