It's easy for my untrained eye to say some of these look like DDO or mint mark errors. Any guidance would be appreciated. Thanks! 1) 1952D OMM? 2) 1958D Crooked Mint Mark..? 3) 1952S Possible DDO? 4) 1954S DMM? 5) 1953S Mint Mark Touching Date

Coin #1 and coin #3 is just damage from Post Strike Damage. Coin #2 and #5 are not errors, just poorly placed mint marks. Coin #4 could possibly be an RPM.

Coin 4 is RPM-004 (S/S north). It's a nice one.

Quote: Coin 4 is RPM-004 (S/S north). It's a nice one. Nice. Look here: http://varietyvista.com/02a%20LC%20...4SRPM004.htmThe last is interesting to me, too. I don't know if the MM displacement is off enough to garner extra value, but maybe. Also: 1) mintmark damage (flattened) 2) tilted, but within normal range (interesting) 3) Machine Doubling

I agree with @spruett that a mintmark touching the date is probably far enough away from the target location that the coin is worth saving. I'd put coins 4 and 5 into 2x2s and spend the first three.

Thanks so much! I'm going through 5000 pennies refinding BIE's as I know I saw at least 5 or 10. I hate the thought of learning how to see an error after I've already gone through them and then having to spend hours through the same coins again lol. Very helpful community here, thank you guys!

I was checking out your pictures Spark - looks like we get our Wheats from the same place - (not hijacking your thread, just showing you others are out there!)

The mint marks are hand punched into the dies. Thus that can have different locations, angles even over each other called RPMs.

Ha! I'm still working on understanding many of the basics. Here's a couple more: Is this an error or something post mint? The good news is I think I have 5 or 10 BIE errors I hadn't noticed the first time through..

Yes very nice BIE, but that looks like damage to me on that '56.
Also, just a small thing, but best practice is to start a new thread for each coin--that way we can use the search function more effectively. Thx!
