I found this coin on offerup but I have not purchased it as of yet. The person that posted the coin for sale retrieved the coin from the pawnshop that he pawned it too and they wanted to purchase the coin and offered him $200.00. Edited by Dronepilot 12/31/2018 9:57 pm

Not a bother at all. I think you have most of us confused, but keep asking, you'll gain lots of knowledge here.

OP edited his posting. Appears somebody on Offerup is shoveling a load in the OP's direction in order to unload his stuff. I would suggest refraining from making purchases from questionable sources until more experienced. These can be purchased on ebay for $3 or so per coin. This is a great place to learn & get input about possible purchases before you make a costly mistake. to the forum.

I suspect that what is being alluded to here is some kind of diagnostics that can identify it as 1916 on a dateless coin. I have read that somewhere, here or elsewhere, but I'm too lazy to dig around for it. A real expert might chime in. So yes, a coin in this condition "could" be worth well over $200 if proven to be a 1916, even in P01 there are recent sales over $1000, but I sure wouldn't trust a pawn shop to definitively know, nor a seller who claims that a pawn shop claimed to know. I think that's the point here, but I'm not sure.
Edit: Ok, a 1916 has no stars below the eagle on the reverse, and OP coin clearly does, so clearly not a 1916. Probably why others here scratched their heads.

I have a sneaking suspicion that the owner of this coin is also the owner of the pawn shop. Avoid this coin like the plague!
