After spending the week putting out fires and learning how to escape from a sinking helicopter I have two days to myself. I will finally have the week end to myself. I will be going into Halifax tomorrow morning to see what they have in the way of coin shops. I have scoped three from the yellow pages but they seem to be mostly bullion dealers. Anyone have the inside scoop on the numismatic trade in Halifax? I will write up reports on what I do find.

Good luck! Personally, I've found coins shops are tough to locate in Canada, but that's the far west coast. I hope you have better luck back east.

There is one that I know of , my step daughter used to date someone from Halifax. Citadel Coins, they also have a ebay store. Though I have never bought anything from them.

Hey, Richard, If you haven't already left for Halifax, here are a few more besides Citadel Coins. Try, Lighthouse Numismatics, New Penny Coin Shop. You should find them in the Halifax Directory.

Thanks all its raining right now so I have more time to plan my days walk. I have Citadel,Lighthouse,New Penny and Nova Coin on my route just getting google to route me past all of them. Hopefully it will stop raining soon. Been here a week and no rain have a day or two to myself and guess what? I may have to break down and drive but I would rather walk.

Well mapped out my route on google 27.1km 5hrs 52mins walking time according to Google. Actual time was closer to 8hrs but this did not include time spent in various shops.
Lighthouse was closed but went for a look anyway seems to be mainly a bullion dealer and only open 10am to 1pm on week days. Citadel coins is a great place inside a small indoor shopping center. If it was made or used in Canada they have it. They also carry a complete range of Canadian mint products. Even though they did not have what I was looking for they we very friendly and offered all sorts of advice on local attractions. Bullion prices were a bit high at $200 for 10oz but the sales guy says its the only way they can keep some stock in. New penny coin and stamps would probably have been a good browse but was closed when I arrived. Did look through the window and might consider going back if time allows. Now after 8 plus hrs of walking in the rain I am going to kick back with one of my favorite adult beverages....

That sounds like an interesting journey--on foot no less! Your dedication to find a coin shop in NS is admirable.
