I was looking through a complete 7070 online here ( http://mysite.verizon.net/w2up3/dan...type_set.htm ), and I noticed that there was a hole for a modern commemorative, but not one for a classic commemorative.
Is this an intentional or accidental omission?

I don't think I have ever saw a classic Dollar commemorative coin, there is places in the 7070 album for half commemoratives and you can put either classic or modern in there but as I said I am not sure they ever made any classic dollar commemoratives

The 7070 has a slot for a modern commemorative dollar but it also has four slots for commemorative half dollars- it is up to you whether to use classic or modern halves. Those slots are located between the half dollars and dollars. There was only one classic commemorative silver dollar issued, Lafayette.

Thank goodness that it's not included in the 7070 as it retails for about $1000. That would be a tough hole to fill.

I am not sure I understand the rationale for the slots for the commemorative halves in a type set. If you are going to include a slot for one, then why not for all?

I am not aware of any description of a type set which includes commemorative coins. Sounds like the designers of the 7070 needed a few more slots and came up with this idea.

Probably for the same reason it doesn't include flowing hair varieties as well as all the varieties in general. It will exclude issues that are hard to come by or have a large price tag on. Most commemoratives are inexpensive but when you include the only early commemorative dollar and quarter dollar, they cease to be inexpensive and the the number of albums produced exceed the number of coins minted/distributed.

It does not include all because they offer other albums for commemoratives. Including all of them would make for a very large type set album!

You are probably right. I wonder if they got feedback from people that wanted to have spots for some commemoratives. I think the truth may be that they wanted to fill out the page so they took the suggestions of a few collectors.
