Ive posted this coin as a NGC AU55. It now resides in a PCGS AU53 and the value is hardly any different. To bad the C is weak but look at this stunner! Has a few scratched of course but I can overlook them. The front is someting special, but the reverse just blows my mind. Look at that blue!

Let me know if you are as memorized as I am.

Pretty toning for a gold coin.

With that toning I didn't realize it was a gold coin. Looks gorgeous.

Spectacular! I disagree with you, though, about toner haters looking away. They should be made to stare at this lovely gem and suffer until they love it!

I didn't know gold could tone like that.
I'm trying to decide if it's because of the copper in the coin.

Darth- Great idea.

Kanga- yep it's likely the 10 percent copper in the alloy that reacts and tones.

Great coin, beautiful, excellent to have in a PCGS slab as problem free, not that I see any problems!

MM is relatively sharp for a "weak MM" coin. Sometimes the C is darn near invisible. Congrats on a terrific piece for your collection!

Thanks Jaobler. This coin is ex. Scottsman and they gave it the unofficial 'Scotsman Catalogers Choice Award' for the 7/15 auction lot. Not sure if that carrys any weight but it helped me make the decision to purchase it. I will be sending it to CAC but honestly don't expect it to sticker as they are VERY tough on toned gold.

Beautiful coloration on that HE, JB. It has the look of a '48-C QE I used to own, but sold along with many of my other C-mint QEs to raise some home purchase funds. I regret selling that one. The coloration looks like it had been kept in a leather pouch or purse for years - amazing look.
