I search ebay for Matte Proof Lincoln cents, and I get this garbage. Why does ebay let this lousy seller keep posting what I consider fraudulent listings? As far as I am concerned, he should be permanently booted. And get this, when I attempt to report to ebay, ebay blocks me by putting me in an endless login loop even though I am already logged in -- something is very wrong here. https://www.ebay.com/itm/1909-VDB-L...201845102373Edited by jimbucks 01/05/2019 6:20 pm

Perhaps his huge positive rating history gives him an advantage. In any event, the seller is properly qualifying his description. My advice would be to just move on.

Quote: Perhaps his huge positive rating history gives him an advantage That does not make it right. So a new seller on ebay would be at a disadvantage by using the same techniques? Quote: My advice would be to just move on. These forums are to help inform others, in my opinion, this ebay seller's questionable tactics should be exposed. Wasting people's time with BS listings is just not right. Am I wrong? Just asking.

Ummmm so this is awkward. That seller's actually the owner of the LCS I frequent and I'm actually going to be hired by starting this summer I can let him know if you guys want I'm to fix his listing I don't know what his reaction would be though LOL. He's actually really nice and it's probably not even him listing it as he has an entire team of employees who handle his listings. They're not the sharpest bunch, they barely know anything about coins and have to ask whether certain series are silver or not when they are in fact moderns. One of them while I was in there one time asked if a 43 steel Cent was silver. So it may have just been one of them.

Sorry for creating a new reply, now that I think about it I was there when that employee added that as I remember the employee asking Julian who is the LCS owner if he thought it was a matte proof and the LCS owner did so they added that to the listing I'm assuming.

This is the battle you want to pick with ebay? He's crystal clear that PCGS and NGC both say it's not a Matte Proof but he thinks it is. We all have seen them both make mistakes many times. Nothing about this listing is deceitful whatsoever, whether it is or isn't a proof. Sorry but to claim it's "fraudulent" is just highly absurd. I wish all ebay listings were so honest, I'd have a ton more free time.

if all of ebay 's listings were this honest then we would never have a problem,, so the seller diagree's with the grading.. that is their prerogative, if they don't wish to resubmit, that is up to the seller, but clear photos, and an honest description is what we desire from all seller's.. drop mike..

We had this thread before about Julian's business plan. If you bought all the coins that Julian listed that he disagrees with the TPG, you would lose a lot of money. I had a couple of conversations with Julian and he is friendly and knowledgeable. Grapecollects, I wish you the best on your summer job. I am sure you will learn a lot about coins from him if you can overlook some of his business practices.

Quote: Really, the seller says it is. No he doesn't. He says, "In our opinion this coin is Matte Proof, however both ANACS and PCGS disagree." Remember those pesky opinions you say are ok to express? Quote:And ebay says the listing is just fine with them. I agree, it is perfectly fine in my opinion, even though apparently it's horrifying to you.

jimbucks - Let's face it, the description is candid even if far-fetched. Unethical? Perhaps bordering it. Worth a wild goose chase trying to shut it down? Nah. You're not a cop, just forget it.

Nope. Memory is a good thing. Just trying to buy some Matte proof Lincoln cents, not fake ones.
