Hello everyone. I came across this un-plated cent while searching through a huge lot of pennies I acquired at an auction. It's a first for me. It is in beautiful shape, a little bit of MAD on OBV and a little bit of strike-thru top REV (add 7% die rotation also). Weight is 2.5 g.

My question is Slab or not to slab? I have seen some way out prices for these on the internet, just wondering if it is worth the slab for certification.
Thanks!

@DaWolfster, this is an interesting coin. Assuming that the color in your pics is correct, it sounds like you are saying that this coin is just the zinc core with no copper plating. However, above the TES of STATES it looks like split plating doubling. I wonder if someone just plated over the copper on this cent?

I thought the same thing about the plating, that is why I included weight, I figured it would be heavier. Some of the plated coins I have seen, the detail is somewhat muffled, and I am really surprised at the detail on this coin. the color is correct! here are some close-ups...

I know this is a blast from the past, just got my right shoulder replaced so I actually have time to get back into the variety Coin World, not complaining at all. I think it was funny when I was re-researching it that my post came up.

I am planning on sending this in to get graded / certified next week unless any of you see anything that might make it not worth it! One thing I did notice, which I have no clue how I missed it, this is a Wide AM also, go figure....

Well all the 1988's are wide AMs. That also is normal. This one is a RDV-005, not the desired one, the RDV-006. How do I know it is not the collectable? Note the 'AM" on America. The RDV-005 have round letters there. The RDV-006 has flat ones.

Thanks Coop, that is what I get for jumping the gun and not really researching it, I am blaming it on the medication, lol...
