2017 D Penny With Multiple Errors - Coin Community Forum

Fitz337 Valued Member United States 61 Posts	Posted 01/08/2019 1:32 pm I found this 2017 D Lincoln Penny while going through my spare change. Right off I noticed the "L" in Liberty appeared to be a grease die error. I also believe there is a double die error on the obverse. Then I realized that for a relatively new coin, there may be a lot of other issues. It looks new, but just doesn't have that mint shine. Is there more to this that I am missing? Note how the 'L' looks wider, it is probably the result of a struck though grease error. When they wipe the dies down with a cloth that has grease on it, of move the grease into a tighter area almost filling somethimgs. Report this Post to the Staff

Full devices in "iberty" and the adjacent rim is perfect. Grease Fill I guess, but why is the "L" the most affected device according to the posts I've found? Hm. I have much to learn.
