So Ive had this coin for about 4 years now, I found this gem when I was living in Monterey, California at Del Monte beach. I use to go there a lot just to dig holes which would end up being 6ft deep. I ended up finding that peen lying in my dig pile. Its pretty cool but never bothered to find out a value. In fact I think I have only shown one other person it. So hopefully you all can help me, I don't have photos now but where the "trust" should be, its on the bottom left side spelt backwards. Same with the "United States of America" on the back where the "one cent" should be. Also you can still see the one cent marking. You can tell that it was struck rather fine the first time and then got flipped around somehow 3 different times and struck. Ill post pics later once I find my camera. Anyone have some crazy looking pennies?

To the CCF Without pictures it's hard to tell what happened but it sounds like the coin has been altered. If it was struck at the mint, the copy would be reading positive, not in reverse. Anyhow, good pictures will tell.

Quote: I don't have photos now but where the "trust" should be, its on the bottom left side spelt backwards. There's the 2 magic words - "spelled backwards" - 99% probably just a vise job. And is finding a coin in a sand pile anything like finding a needle in a haystack?

Also realized upon further inspection that on the back near the bottom its actually has a reverse quarter stamping.

There is no way this happened during the striking of the coin. Intentional damage. PMDSomeone has pressed/pounded other coins into it and also flattened it.

Yep. Your coin is just a victim of Post Strike Damage ( PSD). Not an error coin. Your coin is only worth face value.
