I would like to get some opinions...what kind of future value could I expect from a 2007P Adams dollar with a die rotation of about 160 to 170 degrees? Graded MS 64

Hi Larry, I noticed this is your first post WOW what a great find! That should be good enough to have graded by a TPG service . JP324

Hi Larry that's a great find! How did you come across that thing? As far as how much it will be worth? Its hard to say, I would check E-bay for a possible a frame of reference. The Presidential dollars are so new that there's not a lot of info published,(that I've found), and I'm not sure of a generic way to calculate the premium on a coin of this nature. Errors fluctuate so wildly when a new coin comes out, because people like to capitalize on the hype. Should you sell it now, and capitalize, or hang on to it, that depends how much you like error coins. I say it's a keeper, but I like oddballs...p.s.

Hi larry1947, first of all welcome. I suggest having it slabbed as well. PCGS is my personal preference for error coins. It will cost you $40 for the submission fee. Well worth it when it comes to the point should you decide to sell. The value will depend on rarity(how many known),and obviously, what someone will pay for it. That is a pretty significant error especially for a modern coin. Quality control at the mint is supposed to catch these, however, it would pass through a "riddler" because of its normal size and shape. Great find!

Is there way you could post some pics, I think we would all like to see this thing? I've found photobucket to be very useful.

It sounds like your thinking of buying this coin from a dealer? If so what is he/she asking, and is the coin third party graded. This information would be useful.

Though I have only ever seen it on half dollars, double check to make sure it is not a Magicians coin. It should ring the same as any other Presidential dollar when dropped on a hard surface.

Before everyone gets carried away, maybe you should confirm what he has? He says a rotation of 170 degrees. Now does he have a coin with medal turn orientation, or a normal coin where the reverse is rotated 170 degrees compared to the obverse instead of 180? Did you notice this was his first post? I see a lot of newbies who get excited over the rotated die error they've found only to learn that they never knew about coin orientation and that their great discovery was a normal coin.
Sorry to be a wet blanket, but you have to KNOW what he has before you can give meaningful advice.

I appreciate everyone's response. I'm not an avid collector, but have always been interested in coins that are "wrong". I found this one while looking through a bank roll...I was actually looking for the error that everyone was talking about...the "godless dollars". I had this coin slabbed right away. I haven't been able to find where a similar find has been sold, or any estimate of how many might exist. There have been some Adams die rotations show up for sale on e-bay, but I don't think they've sold. I'm thinking this would be something to put away and wait for the dust to clear. What do you think? Thanks

Which company slabbed it?
I'm not sure what the premium is right now, and no one can say for sure if it will go up in value, but I myself would want to keep it in my collection rather than sell it right away. It sounds cool, would love to see some pics.
