Hi-me and my daughter collect coins for fun. we save all the change we get and then we look at it to see if we can find anything cool. recently we found a coin with errors, very cool. after some research we've narrowed it down to one what we think is of two types: Double Denomination or Brockage. if any can confirm the type of error and why we would really appreciate it. we've included three pictures of the coin, which we consider a quarter. the 1st picture is the observe side which contains the outline of washington's head and some words. we included two pictures from the reverse to show the two different images. one picture shows the eagle which is the usual image for a quarter. but the other picture shows Jefferson embossed in reverse

@koolispso, first welcome to CCF. Second, with regard to Quote: Jefferson embossed in reverse
, usually this means that someone has taken this quarter and a nickel and squished them together, such as with a vice or by hitting with a hammer. Further evidence of this can be see by the flattening on the front of the quarter. Therefore, my initial thought is that your coin has just been damaged--perhaps by someone trying to create what looks to be a mint error. I'll be interested to hear what others here say about your coin.

Agree with Spence. With Jefferson facing reverse it indicates that another coin was pressed into it. Known as a vise job or a garage job. Not an error, just PMD.

It's Post Strike Damage ( PSD). Not an error. Value is 25 cents.
Errers and Varietys.

Quote: Hi-me and my daughter collect coins for fun. we save all the change we get and then we look at it to see if we can find anything cool. I think your daughter has a good eye for details and its an interesting subject indeed. That said, its seems it was damaged after strike. Thanks, Doug.

one follow up question, why do y'all think washington's head on the observe side is so basic and missing most of the details and words? thanks again

That side might have been against the (flat) side of the vise, and when squeezed, became flatter also.
