Getting ready to send this to PCGS. Any guesses on what they will do with it?

If you sent them enough quid, I'll bet they'll put it in one of those hard plastic display holders and mark a MS65 Red grade on it.

I couldn't tell from the photo of your RP'd 9 from PCGS if that was there easily to see either. I understand that PCGS is very tough on "red". Maybe they'll mark it RB? Does any TPG note the two different fonts of the 9's on the 1899?

Bill, no. Just RP9, or not.

Also, if you click on the PCGS photo, it enlarges.

There is no real reason why they should not grade that coin MS-67 Red... it has the eye appeal and everything...
Yet, for some unknown reason they are reluctant to give MS-67 grades in that series...

Superior luster, strike looks sharp, very few carbon specs, it should be ms66 rd compared to your other? Maybe a 67based on colour and less carbon spotting compared to spp 's 1872 ms66 newfy but the newfy penny is a superior strike I think. I'm just trying to compare to others.
Curious what do you think it is?

Playing the ICCS to US TPG cross-over game is a dangerous one indeed. Especially when it's a high MS grade 'red'.

It is not a game, and bosox certainly knows what he is doing.

Pictures aren't very large but I literally see no problems so I would personally think MS67 Red at PCGS.
