Hello everyone, I'm not ready for a 12 emperors set yet (I have some of them though). So awhile back ago, I copied and pasted a previous posting from Finn on what to collect on a budget. Although I'm attaining other coins as well, I'm almost done completing this set. With the help of Finn and some patience, I only have Theodora remaining. If I hit the lottery, I will add - Hanniballianus & Nepotian, but for now they are omitted. I will post the set upon completion. Thank you my friends for looking. I love this "old school" envelope.
Quote: Romans are probably the easiest to assemble a "set" since their coinage was arguably the most organized, consistent, and closest to what we look for in modern coins (e.g. later coins have mintmarks). Some inexpensive sets you could strive for:
The Constantinian dynasty (could be done sub-$50 in low grade with patience): - Constantius I -- Wife Theodora - Constantine the Great -- Mother Helena -- Wife Fausta -- Son Crispus Caesar - Delmatius Caesar - Constantine II - Constantius II - Constans - Constantius Gallus Caesar - Julian II
Technically with the above but usually omitted due to price: - Hanniballianus (Held title of "King", nephew of Constantine) - Nepotian (Usurper, nephew of Constantine) - Procopius (Usurper, cousin of Julian) Edited by travelcoin 01/16/2019 10:03 pm

Coins of Helena are quite scarce, with all of the designs and legends clearly visible and readable. Yours is.
I have yet to find an example that suits me, for a good price, even after decades of searching. Other priorities have also gotten in the way as well, I guess.
Nice acquisition!

I find uncleaned Helenas occasionally - hard to find one with good centering though.
You might want to try and acquire Magnentius, Decentius and Vetranio (or perhaps Vetranio for Constantius II). All can be had in good condition quite cheap, if you are willing to buy uncleaned.

Nice pickup! My coin of hers is fair; I hope to upgrade her and several others since I still have a lot of lower grade coins pulled from lots. Theodora shouldn't be too tricky to nab. I sold a coin of hers last year and it only went for like $15-20. Hanniballianus is doable if you are comfortable dropping $100 on a coin, or if you are diligent and search every uncleaned lot posted to ebay for 6-12 months. I got mine at CNG for about $115, but members have found his coins in bulk lots. Nepotian is much less so; his coins mostly show in upper end auction house sales, and usually fetch $2k-$4k. If you want to have some fun, don't forget that females and young children survived the various purges. Anastasius was the great-great-great grandson of Constantius Gallus and Constantia by their daughter Anastasia; thus he was the great-great-great grandson of Constantine. Anthemius was likewise the great-grandson of Procopius, but good luck finding one of his coins!
