I think I see possible Machine Doubling on the EPU. Although, I can't tell for sure.

Type 1 REV with interesting MD (judging by the reduced size of the E and D's doubled areas) in UNITED.
What date is it?
Any chance of a closer pic of the E.P.U.?

No, the coin is not mine so I cannot get another pic. It is a 58-p. I found it while I was trolling around trying to cherrypick 58 type 2 reverse coins. The way it is angled made it look like a dd. I am not aware of a known 1958 DDR, but ya never know.

I had already zoomed in on the picture, but the low resolution blurs out the important details for me, at least, to make decent opinion. I think something like that would be interesting to own even if would turn out to be MD.

The only problem with it being the 1961 is that 1961 pieces were made only in type II REV (1956-1963). The one in the OP's pic is a Type I. I think, as you stated Coop, the '61 is the most doubled, but they were not made in Type I.
Looking forward to seeing how this plays out.
