But something was added to the coin to cover up the rust. The areas of different color on the obv and rev maybe the rust trying to come through? Report this Post to the Staff

I definitely agree with Coop. The original rusting would be in a straight line on the edge. Usually thin straight lines caused by the edges of the press scraping the blank as it was punched out. The rust on the edge is leaching/leaking through the reprocessed coating and looking kind of undefined and like a blob. If it was original the rust would have been linear and fairly thin.
