Looks like your 1972 cent has some grease blockage on that area. It must have been filled with grease when the worker wiped the die down and filled that devices. Also sometimes vending and counting machines can remove/alter devices. Either way there is no premium for this.

I assumed there was no premium for this coin bc it's not listed in any of the coin books I have. I just wondered what would make this happen. I have found several of these! Was real excited about the first one! LOL
