The Frisco and Denver minted Aussie predecimals are not expensive at all even in the high grades. In fact the locally minted ones are more expensive.

You tell me there are other coins besides Morgans?

In order:

(1) Carson City Morgan dollars
(2) Other Morgan dollars

Silver Denarii from the early Empire and English silver pennies from 870-1216, and 1279-1327.

I'm also fond of Royal French coins, hammered gold and 17th/18th century British silver.

I chose "other" because I have no particular favorite - I will hoard anything and everything.

Ancient and medieval coins do, however, hold my interest better than most. The incredible sense of history, along with the infinite variety and the superior artistic quality on certain issues, keep me interested. The prices are often quite reasonable too.

Hey MorganFred I sold two unc Morgan CC just this morning. Hated to but being a little on the unemployed side swayed my decision! My dealer had one of them sold before I even left the shop!

I collect any that contain a story on how I got them. I like mint condition US coins - any variety.
Rest in Peace

Terry, it's always heartbreaking to part with a Morgan, but selling a CC Morgan is like losing a pet. However, what must be done, must be done. If you're on good terms with your dealer, I'm sure you got good prices. I'm not too far away from your situation: no income except my disability pensions since this past March, so I'm selling, selling, selling, but only Boy Scout patches. I sold an 89CC (ANACS cleaned/damaged AU/XF) last week, but that was to reinvest in another Morgan, but without problems. My Scout collectibles are keeping my head above water without having to break into my investments... so far.

Oh, I like Mercury dime. I wish I had the money to seriously collect some a lot of older coins But....

I voted for the quarters.

The State Quarters offer quite a variety and they only cost 25c. It also is a longer term interest to see the next one come every few months over the years.
Chasing down the new State Quarters is more of a challenge from Australia than for those in the USA.

Mainly pre 1900 US coins. Such a big tempting world out there though. Too bad my budget don't fit the big tempting world.

My response, which was quite predictable if you know anything about me, was cents. It surprises me to see there are so many "other" votes, and that cents got so little of the overall vote. We will have to see what we can do about that

Im not stuck in any series. my main thing right now is a 20th century type set in a H&E Harris folder. only 8 coins away. then my next goal will be a type set in a Dansco album. unless I get my hands on some Wayte Raymond folders then I'm going to silver half dollars. as I have a special spot for halfs and I love silver. I would go for dollars but to expensive I prefer a type set tho as I get a vast area of coins and designs to admire. I dont like restrictions and I really just like variety. and ive got plenty
