Soft reverse strike because of over utilized dies by the mint.

SUPERB example. 63 Red because of the tick on the jaw and slightly soft obverse strike.

Ok Mama , can you tell us why all your Wheaties from that book have the same color and texture ?

those dies have been used and abused...you have some pretty awesome pieces in that collection. MS64 color could go either way I'm going conservative at RB. I think its borderline RD

@T-BOP, only the Denver mint coins really showed such quality in the early part of this collection. It soon includes S-mints as well, but none of the coins we sent in from this book are P-mint. We do know that this collection was inherited twice, and that both collectors lived in the west at various times. We have some information, but lately more questions which we plan to ask when we are next in touch with the seller.

So, I thought this one would get a Red for sure. In-hand he's just so shiny and red. I feel it even looks too brown in the TrueView.
