Any thoughts on how this one should grade?

Maybe some mishandling or very light circulation? Or just bag marks? AU-58 at worst, likely better.

I'm puzzled by that boundary between the cheek and ear area (also wondering if it's just a photographic artefact?). But the hairlines are as strong or stronger than anything else I could find...

Nice luster, tiny amount of wear on the cheek and hair.
EF, (British grade).

The coin has semi proof-like surfaces, except for the area in the hair and cheek that you mention. That is frosted which seems unusual. Based on the sellers photos I saw this as an AU something but his photos were so bad I couldn't tell. I usually avoid buying coins on the net from crappy photos but thought this one might be worth taking a chance.

@IndianGoldEagle....From these photos it looks as if there is quite a significant flatnees at the corner of the cheekbone just below the eye?

Are you happy with the decision? I'm guessing it looks pretty nice in hand ... Mostly PL, with just those small frosted areas.

The area between the cheek and ear, is in slightly lower relief.
The (slightly worn) cheek area, and the (slightly worn) ear area on the other side,
protects the lower are in between from wear.

XF, but probably nicer in hand. Has a lot of "character" (in a good way!).

I would be happy to have it in my collection.

tdziemia, very happy with it. The reverse looks full MS, no wear evident. Obeverse looks like the coin was in a bag of coins and it took most of the hits. If this was the "deep hairline" version of later years it probably would have looked nicer in it's current state.
