Hi guys and gals pretty sure this is a 2015 Saratoga National Park quarter double reverse if you look at the date 2015 can't really see a D in with the five that's coming from United on the obverse side of United States of America.

@cm67, coul you please add a couple pics of the areas that look doubled with the coin in hand? When I enlarge the date (2015), it is too pixelated for me to see doubling. Thx!

All the devices on the outer ring of the reverse are incuse devices. Machine Doubling on these these because the are raised on the die, enlarges the devices. (just the opposite of a raised doubled die) Because the DDR's are on the center of the design, this isn't a doubled die. About 70% of 100 I checked had minor or strong Machine Doubling. No doubled dies have been found on these incuse devices on the ATB Quarters.

Probably most likely Machine Doubling, but need to see a much clearer and better picture. We need a closeup.

Contact marks on these make it look like it flows behind the device like raised devices. So contact marks make an indent on the surface of that area easily. But none of these are doubled dies.

I'm sorry I was explaining it wrong it's not a double die
it's when the front bleeds through to the reverse you can see the d from United and a couple other letters from United States of America that have bled through to the reverse side that's what I was looking at no I don't it's not an it's definitely not a double die I don't know what you call it when it bleeds through I thought it was double reverse sorry.

@cm, perhaps you are thinking about a die clash? I'm not thinking that this is what you have either.

Added: Those close-up pics are great by the way. Thx for adding them to this thread.

Yep, not surprised. You have Machine Doubling on the EPU. Machine Doubling is very common on the ATB Quarters. A large percentage of them have it.

Thank you Spence I could not think die clash for the life of me but you're right it's not die clash it's just Machine Doubling on the five. Sorry for the confusion I just don't want to be one of those people that I think everything they have is a double die or worth a lot of money appreciate the input from everyone it was very helpful.

On a die clash, the devices don't bleed through the planchet. The die damage each other when there is not planchet in the chamber and the dies strike each other. Usually the only letters that come through are 'TY' on the Memorial cents. Usually it is just the outlines of the main designs on each side of the die, making a mark on the opposite die.

On the images, some are from posters on this site. Look at the avatars on the images. Some are from other sites. When I see something on an image that I can use to explain something, I create them with photoshop. I have over 9200+ images on my image host. I be been collecting these for over twenty years. An image at the right time will help a discussion to round out a subject so well. Seeing is understanding. That just part on my educational files.
