Most news pennies are spotted. Some spots are brown and some are white. I read it happened during the cleaning of the planchette. I know the experts recommend only acetone or distilled water for cleaning. Can these spots be removed?
When I find a penny without spots I keep it. I have a fair amount of spotless and scratch-free cents. I believe a large part of the Zinc cents will disentigrate eventually. Can the good ones be saved without the same fate?

It's true a lot of the new shield cents are spotted . Makes the eye appeal non existent . I believe if you can take the clean non spotted ones , give them a short acetone bath then put them in air-tights and with proper storage you can save these pristine coins for decades or beyond .

The spots do not come off without damaging the coin.

The Mint puts them there so people will stop saving every Cent they make.
Actually I seldom find a new Cent in change with or without spots.
