Yesterday, I won an auction on ebay from one of the top coin sellers on ebay, it was listed as an 1866 Seated Liberty quarter, and I got it for very cheap. The date is really worn, and I've asked friends and half of them say 1860 and half say 1866. I haven't received the coin yet, but this is the picture that was provided when I bought it. What do you guys think? Is it 1866? Note- it has no 'S' on the back so it is Philadelphia mint. Thank you guys! I'm new to the site!

Okay, so where would I go to get it confirmed as an 1868? And I don't know anything about coin grades, but what would you say is the value/grade of this coin? Thanks again for your input!

GrapeCollects just gave you the grade and value. But it is only gradeable if you can confirm the date. If not, then it is probably only worth bullion. Hope you can confirm it when you receive the coin.

Oh thanks! I missed that post. To get it confirmed, do I have to go to a coin dealer?

You can submit it to PCGS or NGC by either joining their group for a fee, or submitting through an authorized dealer. For ICG and ANACS, you can submit it yourself without paying to join a group/through a dealer. However, PCGS and NGC are considered the top two grading services.

That is not an 1868 and looks to me to be an 1866. The 8's and 0's are wider than the 6's on the top half. I think you will be able to see it when you get the coin in hand.

I agree, it should be easier to see in hand if you play with light and a scope. No motto, Pre 1867, I'm leaning towards 1860 based on the curve of the top of the last digit.
