Hello all! So I am here to pick brains, not fights. As I am sure we know that, at least for us in the states, coinsandcanada.com is the go-to site for Canadian coins. There have been some errors/varieties posted on the site that I am having some issues with and I am wondering how, and why these "errors" would be posted with photo's and they are not correct. For example, on the 1978 one cent, it lists a double die, however the photo's show Die Deterioration. On the 1969 one cent there is a listing for a "Double Queen's Face" which is an obvious Machine Doubling. Can anyone post pictures and have them listed as they see fit? IS there a better alternative to coinsandcanada, with proper information?

Thanks in advance for your input on this!!

That site is rife with errors and misnomers... (not the first time I have stated this as well), and they seem reluctant to change anything...

There is no alternative site. For some series, there are the variety chapters at the back of each Charlton catalogue, since the 60th edition....

Agree with SPP on the complete validity. The saving grace is that it shows photos of many of them, so that the collector that is into varieties and errors can ascertain what is right. The photos and "descriptions" are from collectors who notice something strange about the coin and "guess" what it is. The moderator is not an error "expert" so the listings go in "as is". Many many Die Deterioration errors are incorrectly posted on many coin sites as "doubled dies" when they aren't.

Thanks for your input SPP-Ottawa and okiecoiner. I do appreciate it. I have been wondering what has been going on there as well. I have also posted on forums and got some shotty advice as well. After a year of collecting Canadian's I have noticed some serious issues like this and I want to work on a proper website to help the collectors of Canadian's. That's my goal anyways. Thanks again!!

You should perhaps speak with Ken Potter, before attempting such a project. He could help you immensely.
