Anyone wanting this study just email me at:

johnmenc@optonline.Net

never published.Free. For the Cu/Pb/Ag (silvered) types.

After you receive it and you find a publication venue for this paper feel free to publish it. It's outside the scope of the MNA journal.

I never considered journals in numismatics before but it seems like there are quite a few:

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_...tic_journals

Maybe try one of those?

Seems quite interesting as those issues saw steady debasement from the 1820's to the 1850's & 60's. Can we discuss exerpts here?

Few appreciate these pieces due to the involvement of Pb, Cu and Ag in their coin metallurgy. Needed more advanced instruments with more powerful capabilities in terms of Lower Instrument Detection Limits but proved my points in most cases.

Interesting topic, John ... These are a popular series, you'll definitely find an audience for this.

Keep in mind, can be VERY hard to distinguish genuine very crude mint product from contemporary counterfeits with these... ESPECIALLY on the 8R denom. (4R are usually a bit more obvious, genuine vs. CC).

I purchased one that was extreme underweight but its XRF assay or metallurgy was identical to the others so to me it was regal. From Hartford Coin. With the crude striking dies and the high lead deposits in the alloy creating fissures and voids it can be difficult to ask - what is really a CCC piece - in my opinion. The weight variations in these planchets are VERY EXTREME. JPL
