Apologies for the posity of images here. My boss and friend purchased a 64 proof set the other day and I'm just looking for casual opinions as to whether the coin looks like a DDO and worthy of further vetting. I think I'm seeing similar doubling on the rest of the obverse letters as well.

A slight doubling effect is often seen on proofs because they are struck twice during the minting process.

I can see Machine Doubling reducing the size of the devices.

A strong TDO always looks so nice.

Although, I think I can see minor notches. Am I right, or am I wrong?

I guess I didn't notice it before, but after Coop's post I noticed the inner lip of the rim at about the 4:00 position underneath the T of my last picture which focuses on the last three letters of trust. It is this normal for Kennedy's? I'm pretty unfamiliar with this denomination.

If this is abnormal then what does this suggest about the primary devices? In other words is this a sort of "canary in the coal mine" to look out for in the future?

To EandV

According to coin frog the double striking of proofs could account for some of the apparent separation and notching (at least on some coins maybe not this coin perhaps- I hate paraphrasing and assuming meaning for other people but I think this is what Cf meant by that) if I'm understanding correctly. I kind of thought that I saw this as well , But I'm really out of my element as I don't look at proofs or Kennedy's very often.... even as minor is it is, it's more than what I see on most days.

Oh okay CouchDiver1978. I understand it now. My area of knowledge and expertise on Kennedy half's are not so great. My knowledge is limited in this area.

EnV your renowned to be pretty good at this stuff so that surprises me a bit, especially you being a penny guy! From what I've seen in my Limited exploits, pennies are harder then most of the other denominations, if for no other reason than the devices are much smaller and harder to see without greater magnification.

I definitely appreciate all the feedback I can get because the vast majority you have more experience and expertise than I do do! I've learned a heck of a lot during the time I've been posting here! Just starting to know enough to be dangerous LOL
