A highlight from today's error lot buy. This coin is really sharp and PCGS slabbed at MS-66. 1966 Lincoln Memorial cent struck on clad 10 cent planchet

If you don't mind me asking what price range was this in? I want to get one eventually so it would help me price one out.

Wow! The central details are just that. I can count the steps in one direction and back again. Never would've thought. Thanks, Doug.

Yes, those steps are amazing. And the slab is a bit scratched up and anything that doesn't look super sharp like the lower reverse is due that, not a flaw on the coin.

Hi Grape, You can get one of these errors fairly commonly on ebay for a shade over $200. You likely can not get a 1966 MS-66 for that, but... Because I tend to buy error coins in lots, it's really hard for me to say what I paid for any one coin, which is why I can't just say what I paid for it as the deal didn't work that way.

@tropicalbats, That's one spectacular eleven cent piece!
It's especially impressive being an early CNC era coin. I well remember the interest in "sandwich" coins when they first came out. I can imagine the first owner quickly snagging that fresh from a bag or roll. I'm glad it found its way to your collection.

Thanks FC, Yes I also quite like this particular coin. I try to be pretty selective for what goes in my collection and this one was right in the sweet spot. Can only imagine the grin on the face of the person who first pulled it out.
