I know the coin is in real bad shape, but is it still a possible S/S
RPM or just shoved over?

I'm guessing damage...considering how battered the nearby digits in the date are.

I agree with Kurt ,looks like damage .

the first picture shows it the best it look like an edge of a coin hit both serifs a nice straight line furrow .

not sure, I would be 50/50 damage or s/s only because it fits the S nicly but not an expert

Almost looks like where the shovel hit it when finding it. (_8^(|) Kidding. But I feel it is damage probably on old bag mark.
