Very much a novice in the world of error/variety coins so I could use some guidance. I found this Kennedy half dollar when going through some rolls. What am I looking at? Is this an error, worthless, a simple by-product of being old. Let me know your thoughts.

It looks like it was buried in the ground or in a very moist/ corrosive environment.
Rest in Peace

Carry it in your pocket and take an image of it every three days and watch the silver slowly come back. First on the tops of the devices and later the fields. It will eventually look antiqued:

The red will turn dark colored. Try to get it when the tops of the hightest point are silver colored and the fields are still dark like the dollar coin. Save the images and post them here and I'll make a progressive image batch.
