Hello guys..

I think it is Canaanite or early Greek, according to a copper ring inscription found in range :

Coin :

Side A

Side B

Side C

Any information about the culture and the written language ID would be appreciated.

Thanks

Interesting items that do appear to be ancient though I can not identify them. I'm going to move this to the ancient section perhaps someone there will be able to help.

I'm not entirely certain it's a coin - at 12mm diameter and 5mm thickness, it's too thick for a coin of that size, fromthat region - Indian coins might be that small and thick, but not from Syria.

I also notice it has what appears to be ancient file-marks, particularly on the second picture. Perhaps it is an ancient weight, rather than a coin?

Thanks echizento, Sap..

Sap, yes it is too heavy for its size. the metal is 100% bronze. But i'll stick with the coin idea, because the site looks 2500~2000 years old or maybe more.

I'll search that site again next week, and I'm gonna share some pic's of the findings. I'm sure i'll find at least one or two more coins.

I'm really surprised with the language ! not Canaanite nor Hebrew, Samaritan, Southern Arabic, Nabatean, Syriac.. especially the first char, can't find any similarity !! I'll update this post soon to share the knowledge

The Islamic pieces look like rather thickish local versions of the common post-reform Umayyad shahada type, probably struck not far from where they were found. They may date as late as the early 'Abbasid era. The flans were likely cut from a bronze rod to a desired weight but proved too thick or too hard to fully spread when struck. The full inscription should be la ilah / illa Allah / wadahu // Muhammad / rassul / Allah ("there is no god but Allah alone // Muhammad is the apostle of Allah") or similar.
