Hi everyone I was going through my change yesterday and I happened to come across this penny the 3rd number is only partially there it is a circle with a solid dot at the top of the circle also has damage on the reverse side of coin any help on whether this is an error coin or not would be helpful thanks

 to the CCF! The 3rd number is an 8. What you are seeing is a die chip or broken post that has filled the top circle of the 8. This is very common. The reverse is purely damage. Nothing worth an extra premium. Safe to spend it.  -CH27

 , this is very common on late date wheat cents . Odd to see it on a 1983 .

I think that it is both an interesting example of a broken post on the die and a cent that is worth exactly face value. Save it if you want, but there is no premium.
