It's from Taiwan I'm pretty sure. Someone that knows more than me will chime in on exactly what you have.

Don't think its real, it says something like gold 5 yuan on the back but it's not gold.

Scrap metal value - it's a fantasy. Not from Taiwan, Taiwan (Republic of China) only existed since 1949.

Hi, I sent the images to a friend of mine who is Chinese. He says it is from China, Republic of China (not Peoples Republic of China) and is about 80 years old and probably pretty rare because the country was overturned. It has a face value of 5 dollars or something like that.

Check out Kann #628 or LM #104. Yours looks like an imitation of a real coin or a model or pattern coin. And so then the value may be about nothing or perhaps a dollar or so to a collector of fake. However, some makers make these copycoins in silver, so it may be worth a few dollars.

Junk value only.
Appears to be fake, copy of Y#344. Should weigh 26.700 grams. Has very little wear, yet head and boat details appear to be very indistinct.
The Peoples Republic of China was established in 1949. Interestingly, in 1949, three U.S. mints struck a total of 30 million silver "Junk" dollars, year dated 1923.

Y#344 is not the right coin, It's an imitation of K#628 and the measures should be: 39mm dia, 2.5mm thk, 20grams weight, .800 silver. Kann has much more info and details, but Ming has better photos. Here is a copy of your imitation from page 37 of Ming:
