Surprise announcement: I decided last week to take my several of my raw 7070 coins and work out trades or cashing them in to buy slabbed Type coins...I am out of pocket about $100 at this point. Next on my list, I am thinking about selling/trading to get a nice SL Type 1/2 Quarter or a Proof 1883 without Cents Nickel.

It was tough parting with several of my coins, but I have come to realize that they had served their time in my collection and it was time for them to move on to someone else to enjoy. If you find the right TPG coins, it pretty much takes the subjectiveness out of coins about grade.

So I was taking photos of them with my "point and shoot", before I took them to the Safe Deposit box in the morning and thought I'd share my acquisitions over the last week.

Remember buy the coin not the holder!

I know these 4 coins that don't fall into the Classic US Coin Forum but I am making one post to conserve space and time. They are nice examples of Modern Types I picked up...nothing special about them other than they are all mint state...and required for a 7070.

On with the show:

Coin #1 is a 2 Cent piece, it has a lot of eye appeal with it's fiery ember-esque toning:

Coin #2 is an 1883 Proof Shield nickel, all raised devices on the obverse and reverse are golden while the fields/mirrors are silver. The Holder has several scratches/rubs and the ring that retains the coin extends over the edges on the obverse along the top and at 5 o'clock but it does not touch the surfaces. I think I may send this one back to PCGS to be re-holdered:

Coin #3 is a 1906 Proof Indian Head cent. It is a very attractive coin...the photos do not do it justice. The reverse photo keeps looking like doo-doo, sorry about that! It's truly an nice example of the series.

Coin #4 is a 1913 Type 1 Buffalo nickel. It has beautiful toning and clear details.

Coin #5 is the Brother of Coin #4, it's a 1913 Type 2 Buffalo nickel. It too has excellent details and color.

Coin #6 is a 1939-S Jefferson nickel with the reverse of 1938. I needed a good example of one for my Jefferson nickel collection and this one seemed to fit the bill until I can find a nice full stepper.

Coin #7 is a Proof 1940 Walking Liberty half dollar. It is highly reflective and is a super nice coin. The scratch seen on the obverse by the I going to Liberty's arm is on the holder.

Great looking coins Nelrak! I know what you mean. It sure is tough to part with the ones you love. Years ago, I departed with an 1850 Moffat & Co. $5 PCGS VF20. I have never gotten over it. But, I have acquired other coins since that have eased the pain

That's great to hear and I am sure we all look forward to seeing them!

Thanks everyone...unfortunately, I didn't upgrade any of the coins I sold/traded...these are all new to me and my 7070. So I essentially filled old holes and but made new ones! Vicious cycle!
Rest in Peace

Beautiful Walker! You are really building an exceptional 7070. Keep sharing, we all can celebrate when one of us acquires a great new coin.
