Why does Dansco make a spot in their album for a 1922 plain? It's an error coin. actually, at least in my album, the only error coin listed.
Might be something really silly to complain about but can anyone think of a good reason why it's in there? Something that's bothered me. I feel better now that I vented. Thank you.

It could be as simple as for spacing. If the no d wasn't there, the 1935 and the 1947 sets would get split between pages. Just an educated guess from me.

I hadn't thought about that option. I suppose spacing is as good a reason as any.

It's a die variety which I have no intention of collecting.

I have albums with a spot for the '55 DD. I've plugged the holes with regular LDS examples to keep me calm...

You can debate this until the cows come home. Many collectors consider it part of the set, others do not.

I guess you could collect a 1922 "Weak D" and stick one in there, cross out "Plain" and write "Weak D" in there in place of it. Or stick a bronze Denver mint medal in there or a blank planchet.

I always plugged that hole with a weak D. Same with the 55 double die, used a poor man's DD with the one 5 doubled.

My Albums have places for the 22 plain, 55 and 72 Doubled Dies, piles of the 60's and 82's, etc. Wonder when they'll make a place for the wide and Close AM coins? I'd like to find out who at those companies that make Albums with all that stuff so I could just yell a them. Bet they don't even collect coins.

Agreed with the OP. That spot drives me crazy. Drives me even crazier that I just lost out on a 1922 weak D, I was dying to win on ebay. [OO!].
