I found this CRH today. I know most collectors wouldn't keep something minor like this, especially with the amount of corrosion, but I don't mind putting things like this into my collection. For any new collectors out there wondering why this is considered minor, The mis- alignment does not cut off any devices, so its not as collectible. Never the less, a collection is what you make it. Thanks for looking. -CH27 Collector of U.S. Coins, Varieties, and Colonial Coinage

That's a really nice one! I've found one as nice in 250 boxes!

Thanks GC! This is probably my most major MAD on a penny in my collection. I don't see them as much on pennies.

Nice find @CH27. Seems to be worthy of a 2x2.

Also looks like it was caused by a tilted die that probably made it a MAD. Note the flattened find on the right?

I didn't know that. Wouldn't that cause weakness on the reverse though? Thank you Mr. Coop.

Depending how far off center the dies are. Note on a strong MAD: These are the collectable ones. Also note how the hammer die was not centered on my image to show what happened. Also note on the reverse, you see a weakness because the dies were not exactly over each other. So it the tilted die was part of the cause, the reverse may/may not be affected. Just trying to show on your coin the tilted die maybe the cause of the MAD. I'll have to compare more examples to see if this happens often.

Thanks for explaining. I haven't heard of tilted dies causing MADs. Looks like I learned something new today. Thanks!

Well it is something new to me. After seeing your coin I though I'd see if my theory is true or not?
