Yes,we don't know if or when that die got changed out. I still call it a pre-cud. John1

A pre Cud would be like a Retained Cud, showing some movement of the pre Cud away from the die. So far this is just a crack with a few chips. No separation of the die yet.

Are there any similar appearing coins with maybe a bit of separation, your may be prior to those and only a couple hundred strikes back. Check die markers.

The die looks pretty fresh to have a rim to rim crack. It mush have hit the collar and it broke then. It was probably used a long time after that. (probably until the die developed a Cud)
