I need some assistance with a possible DDO. I hope the pictures come through okay. This is a 1973D Kennedy half. I am going through 130 KHD It is the thin leg the "R" and the thin bottom loop of the "S" that has me questioning it.
The coin is not toned as it appears in the first image, it's in the lighting.
I don't know why, but for some reason the third image gets rotated 270° when posting. It is oriented correctly in the original 1 MB file.

Thanks, Chris

Do you have the third image on your computer? If so, then you can do a right click on the Windows Explorer and rotate the image from there. Right 90 degrees. Then upload the image again to your image host and post it again with a new name. (rename the file by addiing a '1' or a letter to the filename, then unload again) You can edit a post several times if it is still 24 hours from the post time.

Thanks, Coop. I used the rotation option in the Image Optimizer.
Here is image 3 in the correct orientation.
Thanks,
Chris

The obverse die has been way over polished. Note the motto devices are narrowed in size. The bust is showing a halo and the LIBERTY letters around the bust have also been reduced.

Coop, when you say the bust is showing a halo, is the halo a circle about 1/4" from edge? What causes that? Does something in particular tell you the die has been over polished? I see the motto is narrower but is this the result of the over polishing or is it a result of MD?

This does not look like a doubled die to me. There is one prominent DDO known for this date, it is definitely not that coin.

This often also removed the 'R' on the Eisenhower dollars. Giving them a name to sell them off. (Peg leg) Just another case of over die polishing)
