First I'd like to thank you in advance for any help you can offer.
I found these coins in a can of coins, and these 2 really stood out.
A couple friends told me they are 1715 gold doublings S 2.
I would be very happy to know for sure and know their worth. I've been told they are worth a lot.
Also, how would I know if they are real or not.
I've also been told, even if their not real they still might be worth something.
Again, thank you for your help!

That does not look genuine, and it would only be valuable in any way if it could be identified as a contemporary counterfeit. (A counterfeit made during the time period that the coin was meant to circulate.)

Thank you both for your input. Not sure if I want to pay 200 dollars to send it in and have it checked and certified now

It looks like a 4 escudo coin of Philip V, like this one: https://en.numista.com/catalogue/pieces53672.html

This type is earlier than the one posted by nelson9225, which explains why it looks different. (also, the most recent photo is upside down, and it is a 4 escudo coin, not a doubloon).

I cannot comment on authenticity.

The larger, silver coin appears to be a copy of an 8 reales like this one: https://www.coinarchives.com/w/lotv...19658b195549

Thank you for taking the time to look at them. The weight is different than the one you posted. It was something, ours weighs 7.6 grams, which we were told would make it double escudos. Have you ever heard of it?

There are other experts out here who can also weigh in, but a 2 escudo coin should weigh 6.6 to 6.7 grams, not 7.6. Your coin has IIII (= 4 escudos).

These two facts suggest you do not have an authentic coin.

I would loose not much time on these coins.
The details are too crude to be good. They look like cast coins.
The 'coins' were made for treasure seekers on some 'pirate' beaches. They even were made for board games.
