This is an Denver mint set. It is sealed in th plastic still. What is it called and what causes this to happen? Th background has some kind of shadowing throughout the coin an some larger lettering behind the forefront letters. ( behind L and R in liberty). Also in the Philadelphia set that quarter has something going on.

Looks like some minor Die Deterioration going on, caused by a worn die issue, from striking planchets at the U.S. Mint. With every strike, the die will start to slowly break down.
Errers and Varietys.

Is that what causes the swirly shadowing? So if it's an uncirculated mint set, would that m as le it mint damage?

The white hazy looking stuff,if that is what you are talking about is most likely from a bad wash. Simulare to "milk spots" is my guess. John1

I think having all the information at the same time allows the mind to remember it easier. (And I didn't use all of the images I have. Left about 1/3 off) 136 images total.

Looks like the mint cellophane is causing stains, and is stuck to the coin.

Coop, you are St. Coop. You are a godsend. Let me say, WOW!! That is awesome. Thanks for all the pics. I really need those. Not to go off topic but the Maryland quarter I posted about. These pics pointed alot of that coin as well. What I call the wrinkled skin, now I know is die flow. I have 2016 dime too. You are the "Encyclopedia of Coins" my friend. Thank you I truly mean it. As for the plastic, it isn't stuck to the coin and is loose around its little. It has a yellow tinge to it. What I'm talking about us what looks like maybe zebra stripes or really thick lines of a finger print. Around the top and back of his head and through part of his face and pony tail.
