I just learned about lowball collecting from another thread at CCF. You want to get a TPG to give the coin a P01 (with no ED), believe it or not. There's a certain rarity, because so many coins this far gone are missing a marking you need for grading, or they have some damage. It's a real thing, with lots of money changing hands.

I think this is my best lowball candidate.

The eye, ear of liberty and the date are strong, and as you point out, so are the stars in the obverse.

Have to say , Not a PO-01 . Put it in your empty pants pocket for a couple of months or more then send it in if it wears down a little bit .

Curses, foiled again! This one was my "Great Lowball Hope," too. Everything else I have either has Details or is at least F-2. I'm a failure at failed coins.

PCGS Blog:

"Numerous times collectors have sent in coins graded PCGS Fair 2 under a grade review, in hopes of getting their coin downgraded to a grade of Poor 1."
